Chalet Anzère by SeARCH
The Dutch firm, SeARCH, was hired by a Dutch client who is actually an entrepreneur, a hobby pianist along with also a racing driver. The client was not entirely satisfied with the cluttered format of the chalet design of which was included when he purchased the building plot in Anzère, Switzerland.
via the architects: “SeARCH proposed to start via scratch along with also tailored the program more compact along with also site specific (the steep hillside). The ‘traditional’ chalet, originating via ‘chahtelèt’ (shepherd’s hut) consists of a solid wooden house with shutters along with also gable roof, resting on a stone foundation. within the Swiss Alps, the chalet has gradually become a ‘multi-gabled’ pastiche as luxury ski-chalet or grew to mega proportions which has a maximum of apartments for affordable tourism. The most beautiful, historical examples are still the larger (farm)houses for several families, high up within the Alps, used only in summertime.
Inspired by the impressive ‘Grand Chalet Balthus’ in Rossinière (CH) with large roof overhangs, the 500 sqm program is actually designed within one clear volume. The garage was moved via the back of the house with problematic access to the lower road. Through a hallway along with also elevator, carved into the mountain, the idea features a direct connection to all three levels of the house; the guesthouse downstairs, the main living areas within the middle along with also a private apartment within the attic. All floors give access to three meter wide terraces, connected by stairs along with also a phenomenal view over the Dent Blanche Massif with 4000+ peaks of Matterhorn, Dent Blanche, Dufourspitze along with also Weisshorn.”
