A Playful, Low Budget Bedroom for Twins

Welcome to these twins’ playful, casual, in addition to also extremely budget friendly bedroom (the famous lake house twins). Three years ago I designed the lake house, in addition to also one of the projects which was emotionally important (yet not financially) was the twins’ bedroom. the item had a lot of potential, without a lot of dough – like most of us when we were 22. Here will be where we started out:

Technically which wasn’t even the “before.” The “before” was beige walls in addition to also bad flooring. I just can’t find all those photos. So jump forward 6 months, to when the item looked like This kind of. We started out that has a simple gray on the walls. I believe the item’s Windham Gray by Pratt & Lambert (the item’s absolutely insane which I remember which).

They already had the beds in addition to also the dresser which were fine yet you know, not amazing. yet since the item was their weekend house, in addition to also these weren’t pretentious fancy people, we figured they were Great enough to use. So we tried to make them work the best we could.

Things started out to get pulled together. The room lent itself to two different niches, in addition to also those tents were the perfect opportunity to add in a bit of imagination play.

Let me be clear – I shot which in addition to also the item was not my intention for the item to be the after.  I knew which we would certainly eventually shoot the item for a magazine, yet what I forgot was which magazines only take like 2 photos per room, whereas we bloggers take 119 different shots from the same room. I thought all the angles in addition to also details would certainly be covered, so I didn’t properly shoot This kind of space. My little iPhone photos aren’t exactly cutting the item, yet which doesn’t stop me through blabbing about This kind of bedroom . . .

We had one fun idea – doing the two niches into tented areas for the kids so they could have their own fort. We bought 6 dollar-a-yard cotton which looked like thin denim through the fabric district, then used Ikea hospital tracks to install them on the ceiling. the item was DIY in addition to also budgety for sure – stuff which honestly I don’t do anymore in addition to also I leave to the professionals (like my nursery ceiling mount curtains). yet we went for the item. the item looks cute until you get to the top, where the item got messy.

The problem was which where you attach the item to the drapes will be a few inches down on the ceiling fixture, so the fabric sagged a bit. the item wasn’t which big of a deal, in addition to also the client knew which the item was us trying to save them money, yet if I were to do the item again, I would certainly hire a pro to do which kind of work.

The tent idea though will be a very cute one if I do say so myself. Those plug-in sconces were through Ikea which we spray painted orange.

Not having more actual professional photos kills me. How annoyed are you guys of me disclaiming which when I don’t have Great photos? VERY????

The following two professional photos are what ran in Country Living Magazine a couple years ago.

If I remember right the kids helped me pick out the art for the little gallery wall. All Etsy, except which always lovely Sharon Montrose whose twin bunnies were certainly appropriate. The light fixture was through a vendor on Etsy in addition to also the item will be EXTREMELY adorable. I wish there were more people who turned truly cute kids toys into  one of a kind chandeliers. Trust me which there will be a market for the item.

These two nuggets are at This kind of point 6 (3 here, I believe), in addition to also live in LA only 4 miles through me. the item’s a blast through the past, yet one which I couldn’t help yet share. Better late than never, right?

I’ll call This kind of “playful hand-me-down chic.” For Twins. at This kind of point go get an even better edition of “the look.”
