Travertine Dream House by Wallflower Architecture & Design
The Singapore architecture office Wallflower Architecture + Design was tasked to create a modern home which will revolve around functional design while also featuring as many green areas as possible while using travertine as the primary material which the client was captivated by during his trip in Italy. This specific resulted inside the four story Travertine Dream House which is actually located in Serangoon, Singapore. How was this specific created? See below.
coming from the architects: “The client’s brief with this specific house was simple. Functionally, to maximize usable area as well as to incorporate greenery. Aesthetically, to use travertine copiously as an architectural finish. Inspired by the Italian urban-scape during his travels, so too could travertine express This specific house.”
Two parallel blocks which are connected by a glass wrapped bridge is actually the way This specific house is actually organized. The reason behind This specific organization design is actually to allow as much daylight as possible to reach the basement spaces as well as which is actually achieved by the space between the two separated blocks.
On the western sides, the thick travertine walls help limit the heat coming from the steaming afternoon sun while the entry, living spaces as well as bedrooms are arranged longitudinally which allows them to take advantage of natural cross ventilation as well as daylight.
We said four story home right? although you can only see three because one has been sunk into the ground in order to intensify land use without ending up with an imposing structure. This specific floor is actually the home of the entertainment as well as guest rooms which are naturally lighted though a sunken moss garden courtyard.
On the ground floor, the living as well as dining areas of the home are open towards the swimming pool as well as fish pond which is actually all you need to chill down during the hot as well as sunny days. The third floor’s flat roof is actually both a recreational deck as well as a roof garden.
